Held once again in the main hall of the Redbourn Parish Centre, our now-ubiquitous 'Big' Quiz was once more written and presented by our Social Secretary Annette Cotter. With an attendance of around 70 eager quizzers (up from last year's total), the quiz featured four rounds of General Knowledge questions, interspersed with specific rounds on the subjects of 'Around Britain', 'The Sixties' and 'All Around The World' , together with an entertaining 'table round' of 30 cryptically-clued London Underground stations (for example: Cryptic clue - Bigger than big. Answer - Wapping)
The competition was hotly contested, with victory finally clinched by 'Janet's Mob' (Janet Walter's Visiting Places Of Worship group team), who achieved a very creditable 188 points out of a potential maximum of 205. Bottles of wine and a trophy were awarded to the winners, and a collection was also made by u3a chairman Barry Welch, in aid of the Redbourn Care Group.
All in all a very enjayable evening was had, and special thanks to Annette Cotter and the various helpers who assisted in the setting out and tidying up duties.
