A talk on the early days of the Underground. This is a sometimes humerous general history of 'the early days'the Tube'. Our speaker, David Burnell, describes his presentation as -
"a look at the building of the world's first underground railway in London, and the experiences of travelling on it. Why it was built, what mistakes were made and how was it viewed at the time? The talk is largely drawn from contemporary accounts, and includes references both to Marilyn Monroe and to the perils of the Victorian water closet! "
The talk is fully illustrated and we look forward to finding out about the seemingly unrelated subjects of film stars and WC's!
